We are deeply saddened to share that Dr. Phil Williams (Canada), an internationally honored pioneer of NIRS technology and member of our ICNIRS Community, passed away on October 1st 2025. Dr. Williams was instrumental in bringing NIRS into industrial use replacing more polluting classical methods.
He devoted much of his life to training and mentoring many scientists worldwide, sharing his practical experience and methodical rigor. His warmth, openness, and vision left a profound mark on our community. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed. But his legacy will continue to inspire us all. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be greatly missed.
